One of the key priorities for us at Pea Green Boat has always been to keep our cheese sablés as fresh as possible, for as long as possible.
This has not been an easy task, as the decadent heaps of Italian parmesan, Scottish cheddar and creamy butter, which give our sablés their famous flavour, make it a challenge to keep them fresh for extended periods.
Initially we could only put a two-month shelf life on the sablés, but even then, they were not perfect towards the end. We wanted to do better for everyone who loves our little cheese biscuits.
At the same time, we are very aware of the importance of protecting the environment by removing as much plastic as possible from our packaging. We therefore recently decided to move away from our traditional deli pots to a new boxed packaging design.
Not only has the new design increased the recyclable material in our packaging, it keeps our sablés practically perfect in flavour and texture for up to six months! Although we’ve certainly never had the willpower to save a box that long.
Finally, and most importantly to us, we are delighted to have achieved this longevity without a single change to the recipe – keeping our sablés free from preservatives and all those other nasty things.
